Unlearning lesson in school

I was surprised to find the unlearning lesson in the English question paper of pre-board exam of class X. Believe me, time has come when we need to provide unlearning lesson to young students, boys and girls. It is easy at the young age for the young mind to learn unlearning.

Only one English teacher made the difference. She is sharp, intelligent and futuristic. Unfortunately she is teacher and spends her time in school activities when she could have worked on the direction and vision of children. But anyway life goes like this. This young bright and futuristic female teacher is the becon of unlearning. I salute Mrs Khatri.

I am presenting this poem which was given in the question paper. I am sure that you will like them.

The Things That Haven’t Been Done Before

By Edgar Guest

The things that haven’t been done before,
Those are the things to try;
Columbus dreamed of an unknown shore
At the ruin of the far-flung sky,
And his heart was bold and his faith was strong
As he ventured into dangers new,
And he paid no heed to the jeering throng
Or the fears of the doubting crew.
The many will follow the beaten track
With guideposts on the way.
They live and have lived for ages back
With a chart for everyday
Someone has told them it is safe to go
On the road he has traveled over
And all that they ever strive to know
Are the things that are known before.

A few strike out without a map or chart
Where never a man has been,
From the beaten path they draw apart
To See what no man has seen.
There are deeds they hunger alone to do;
Though battered and bruised and sore,
They blaze the path for the many, who
Do nothing not done before.

The things that haven’t been done before
Are the tasks worthwhile today;
Are you the one of the flock that follows, or
Are you that one that shall lead the way?
Are you the one of the timid souls that quail
At the jeering of the doubting crew,
Or dare you, whether you win or fail,
Strike out for a goal that‘s new?

Happy unlearning... enjoy
