Unlearning for global networking

The second book on unlearning with the title "Unlearn Before U Learn for global networking" is published in January 2011. It is available for all idea creators and book lovers.

Unlearning gives us simple clue to resolve many of the complex issues emerging out of changing global scenario. One will have to read it to understand the true meaning of "Egypt Unrest" otherwise all other analysis are the waste of time.

Unlearn for what you dream to achieve in life!!

Five steps for time management

Whenever I meet people they complaint about constraints of time in doing good things. I share the anguish and complaint of all those people because I too live in the same society. As per my observations, we waste plenty of time in doing trivial things. Where is the time to do serious things? However it may be the challenge to distinguish between trivial and serious work. But we do not have options, if we want to do something good & g8, we have to distinguish between trivial and serious works.

The other day I met famous businessman Mr Rahul Bajaj, he said that he does not have time to read books. Although, I have always been surprised when ever I have gone to Vigyan Bhawan, I found him loitering in the front line with dignitaries. Certainly how will he get time to do anything good & g8 in this life?

I met Mr Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission, Govt of India. He is supposed to be another intellectual in the government circle who is little bit updated. I was surprised to listen to his agony that he does not have time to read. For last many months, whenever any program of national and International seminars appears in the news paper in any cities in India, his name will be there as a speaker or chairman of panelists. He is too busy to speak and attend national and international seminars to do anything good or g8.

Common men and women are busy in attending lectures, seminars, lunch and dinner in five star hotels being organized by MNCs or Indians companies including media, how could one get time to think and do good and g8 things?

As I was analyzing these time constraints issues after playing six good games of squash at DSOI in the evening of 27th January 2011, my wife birthday which we celebrated after coming back home by cutting cake with three of us, I was pondering about the time management issues in this country. I could come out with few steps which may help all of us to get some more time to do good & g8.

Few steps for time management to do good & g8 things are -

1.    Don’t talk about corruptions – Media talks corruptions, leaders talks corruptions, activists are busy in organizing processions talking corruption etc. This life will never give you time to do something good & g8 till you keep talking bad & worse. It’s simple law of attraction. You can never do worthwhile things till the time you talk worthwhile things. So do not waste time in talking corruption, talk about new laws, good governance, talk about innovation, talk about good technology, effective leadership etc. You will have time in your hand.

2.    Avoid watching Indian TV News Channels – TV news channels are wasting the time of people of this country. NDTV is influenced with communists & Bengal, AJJTAK is busy with suspence stories, India TV is very serious to talk about superstitions etc. No channel appears to be straight and genuine. That’s how we never encourage our children to watch TV, IAS aspirants watch BBC, business people attend live seminars and discussions to keep updated, they travel to USA or other developed countries to get ideas. Most top level people do not waste time in watching Indian TV channels. If you could unlearn watching Indian TV channels, this will save lot of your time.

3.    Stop watching Cricket or its related news – Cricket has taken our precious time and energy for good of no one. It is such a time consuming game that the world has not accepted this as real entertaining or worthwhile game. I do not know who is responsible to make this game so favorite among Indians. Was it British? It has to lose its charm. That’s how it is reducing day by day. From five days test matches, it has come down to 40 and then now 20 over one day match. I hope that in the days to come some Lalit Modi will come and make the game of Cricket for one hour or two hours or three hours. If you have to see some game of more hours then watch Federer playing tennis. It’s great to watch those games not cricket. You will not be deprived of your precious time in life and while retirement you will not feel that you could not do anything in this life.

4.    Don’t attend everything every time – People are restless soul. They want to keep themselves busy and active. If they are not able to keep themselves super busy they feel frustrated and isolated. To satisfy this human nature, they keep making plans to attend everything and every time as much as possible. That’s how Rahul Bajaj attends all the meeting in Vigyan Bhawan and Arun Maira is found in all the seminars. Can it ever give you enough time to attend everything or every function? No never so select the best one or two functions what suits to your needs and keep yourself free to do something good & g8.

5.    Don’t learn but unlearn – Learning is endless. Learning is poisonous. Learning kills. You can’t waste your time in learning. I have seen people keep reading anything they get hands off or if their close relatives, friends tell them to read. They keep learning what the people around them tell them to learn. This is not the way to live life in 21st century. You should not take lessons or tips from close relatives, friends and colleagues. Tendulkar don’t keep learning everything, he has not done even college education. Rahul Gandhi do not learn neither reads book. Has Rahul Gandhi ever talked about which book is he reading? Never! Move ahead; take the tips from better media like BBC, TV channels, Internet etc. Unlearn old way of learning and keep unlearning.

Time is precious and as you grow in life, you must be judicious enough to save your time for better things. Life is very complex in the sense that you cannot do everything. If you do trivial things, you are not doing great things, or you cannot do great things. So keep yourself free. You must be able to discard trivial things and not waste time in doing too human things all the time.

You need to make yourself strong to have time in life to do good & g8 things.

One Day Workshop on Unlearning

When I developed the theory of human growth through unlearning, I myself never imagined that it is such a great idea. But every time I encounter people and talk about unlearning, I see their interest and excitements, I feel that there is an urgent need to work on and ensure smooth propagation of this great idea called unlearning. I invite you all to join in this endeavor in whatever way you could.

I conducted "One Day Workshop" on "Innovation thru Unlearning” at Ramanujan College of Management. There were around 20+ participants including faculties from that college. The college Principal also attended the workshop.

This was the third workshop in a row in last two months. I found that people are very excited about the topic called "Unlearning". Generally they have no idea about unlearning however they have aversion to find so many things new in my presentations.

Can I help if our knowledge is getting obsolete in one and a half year?

Many participants found so many things new and find them difficult to understand. The subject is new and difficult to understand. But as usual new things takes time. Unless we devote some time, we shall not be able to understand the topic.

I am happy that many came to my workshop to find unlearning. The response was over all encouraging but I was sad to find that most of them had no idea about the abc of unlearning.

It’s a long way to go before we start understanding unlearning.

I am delighted to write few feedbacks.

“The concept is too good to study and something very important for everybody to understand.”

“Session was good and topic is new to me. I want to attend more workshop on this topic.”

“Topic is quite interesting and psychological which is helpful for life.”

I have uploaded few photographs and posters prepared by faculties there on ulbul yahoo group. I hope that you all will like them and get more innovative ideas of unlearning.

Principal Prof (Dr) Rajkumar Nayak was very excited about my research. He is an author of seven books, he claimed. He spent more than half an hour after the workshop exclusively to talk to me about my research.

Unlearning is a great idea and its time has arrived. I request all the bloggers to join hands to find little more of unlearning in their day to day life so that they can understand unlearning and make use of this in their lives. They must promise to spend few minutes to know about unlearning.

For those who could not attend the workshop & missed... better luck next time...

China needs democracy for innovation

Innovation is the key to human development. Society which has done innovation and changed with time, has achieved unparallel prosperity. In 21st century, innovation has no alternative. Today in the knowledge economy, without innovation it is difficult to keep up with the pace of development. You have to understand innovation, have to welcome innovation and have to accept innovation. You should be innovation friendly to enjoy the fruit of human development.

Unfortunately leaders and policy makers in India are not even aware about any such need. They are failing Indians. India is unable to take China in right perspective and remains confused due to lack of vision and strong leadership. India is unable to lead and show direction to its citizen.

On the other hand, as a national strategy, China is trying to build an economy that relies on innovation rather than imitation. I remember the same question I asked to Indian thinker in a seminar at India International Centre few months back, which Chinese policy makers are emphasizing now. I remember my question to Dr Arvind Virmani self acclaimed expert on China - “Some analyst feels that China is a bubble and might bursts by 2012 or 2014.” I wrote a blog too at http://kamekish.sulekha.com/blog/post/2010/08/china-s-bubble-and-indian-policy-makers.htm

Today China is achieving the economic growth with the help of American policies, strategies, Western products & technologies and Indian philosophy. The core Chinese strength has not been able to achieve excellence and prosperity what could be achieved in 21st century.

More than 60 years of communist rule has failed Chinese in every way. Now when communism itself has failed humanity which has been demonstrated with the fall of Russian republic, and then confirmed with the fall of Berlin wall, western policies are gaining momentum slowly and steadily all over the world. Starting from industrialization to market liberalization and globalization, computers, communication, outsourcing etc have shown the path of growth to the policy makers in China who never tasted the growth in real sense. China has been front runner in accepting Western policies and it all started with opening the market in 1979 much before Indian leaders felt the necessity. Today’s growth is the result of that courageous move. India is lagging due to its late start and now slow follow up.

But the main question arises at this juncture with Chinese policy makers, how far you can achieve growth through imitation only. Ultimately innovation has to be done at ground level. Today China intends to roughly double its number of patent examiners to 9000 by 2015. China is taking steps to achieve research and innovation. The steps are bold and courageous and its all due to the leader at top whose ideas are clear and progressive unlike Indian leaders who remain conservative and time pass.

The vision is clear and steps are being taken in China, however my doubt is that the kind of innovation which is expected needs very different kind of political and social environment. The excellence is achieved in a very different condition. Even India is not able to do a single innovation for last many decades and it is all because of bad environment and culture; I am surprised if Chinese will be able to do it. Innovation requires courage and that courage comes from liberty, freedom, democracy and will power which are just not available in Chinese society

The main point is that Chinese condition is not favorable to achieve innovation. If government wants to achieve change, wants to achieve innovation, they will have to provide more liberty to their citizens. In the present circumstance, they way Communist leaders are ruling the state; it is next to impossible to achieve excellence.

Amidst all these policy framework of Chinese Government, I have my own doubts that all of a sudden one day China will change its style of governance. It will accept American or UK democracy. And that will the best thing for Chinese people in particular and to this world I general. Country need to adopt types of governance which is futuristic and encourages people to achieve its potential and if individual achieve its potential then only country will be able to achieve its innovation and then prosperity.

Need of innovation would force China to accept democracy?

It appears difficult at this juncture but there is no choice. If we want innovation, we have to have environment which helps people to conceive innovative ideas. Innovation will be delivered only then.
