students secured more than 90% marks in recently announced CBSE examination 2012
result. So many talents produced in young age in India but by the time they
reach to adulthood, all these vanish. In the country of 1.2 billion excellence
remains a starve commodity. I personally feel that all these excellence vanish
under the pressure of sheer exploitations from their near and dear ones. It may
not be easy to understand but it is important to try. To get to the root, we
need to ask some serious questions -
Why it is difficult
to grow big in India? What is the problem in environment?
Why there are no
significant researches or innovations in sixty years of independent India?
Why do we as an
Indian hate excellence consciously or unconsciously?
Exploitation
is on peak in a developing society in the name of culture or traditions.
Individuals with high caliber and dedicated professionals fail before they are
able to achieve their peak because of pressure to follow traditions and
culture. Most of the exploitations result from existing outdated culture and
traditions. A system of exploitations from family, society and nation forces
individuals to give up their bigger goals. You can hardly find a person with
bigger goal today in India. All are either compelled or forced to accept much
smaller goals than they are capable of doing. Nation loses excellence.
It
is long back in late 70s and beginning of 80s I started living a conscious
life. It was around 15-16 years of age when I felt that I can do whatever I aim
for. I started doing my home work and created wisdom sources to have better
decision making system. This is essential for a successful and prosperous life.
One side when I put up lot of efforts to find truth, exploitations also moved
along. In the life of a talented individual from middle class, exploitations
never became obvious and apparent, it remain so integral to existing traditions.
It gets entangled with growth. Many a time exploitation is so integrated that one
can hardly feel whether it is exploitation or support. Like many others, my time
passed too with lot of ups and down. Certainly I was forced to take these as
part of life.
In
2005 when I left my regular job to write a book on one of the greatest idea of
this century, I was very excited about the desired outcome. Compared to the
impact of various ideas prevalent in the world, I was never hesitant to declare
myself “No 1 thinker of the world”.
This is easy said than done. One can dream and work but desired outcome never
comes without sustained effort and support from relatives, friends and
institutions. Here again after 20 years when I felt things are within my reach,
I was trapped in sheer exploitations. This time exploitation boundary increased
to national boundary.
After
analyzing the life of 30 years, I can conclude that I have reached to third
generation of exploitations –
First Generation of exploitations – My known exploitations
started just when I started living my conscious life at the age of around 15-16.
People around me exploited me for my energy, vitality, knowledge and ignorance.
My own relatives exploited me heavily to meet their short term goals at my long
term loss. Many did because of their ignorance, some because of their selfish
nature and few may be consciously. I remained handicap. I kept on getting
exploited because of my own approaches towards life, my own limitations to grow
and my ignorance to alternatives. The same thing happens with all young growing
individuals in this country.
Second generation of
my exploitation
started when I got married. My wife was made to do what she should not have
done. Most of these things were forced on her on the name of culture and
traditions. She was not taken care of her simple aspiration because of
ignorance, selfishness and competiveness. While I helped my brother to become a
Doctor even he failed in class 12 exams, he could not help my wife to complete
her PG rather he took all her books and did PG himself. Never bothered how and
what she does. My wife could not do what she was capable of doing. It is my
personal loss.
Third generation of exploitations started when my
daughter was about to reach excellence in sports. I remember my brother’s wife
working in SAIL suggested submitting application for sponsor in the year 2008. Subsequently
while I submitted application to SAIL’s office, she and my brother have not
spoken neither came to see her games till today. Why to talk about one brother,
no close relatives or friends came forward to witness her achievements. Over
and above other brothers and relatives working in USA and having great life,
gave us the hardships I could have never imagined. The path towards selection
trial for Asian Junior and World Junior Championship in 2012 has been travelled
by my daughter without any support from relatives and friends. Exploitations
move quietly in generations. Even nation does not come forward to help in
achieving excellence rather National Coach and others are there to take credit
of your success without being part of your struggle.
One
has to be lucky to be protected from these inner conflicts and selfishness.
Exploitation
continues and as an individual looking for excellence, there is hardly any time
to creep on such issues. Today when 28000 students secure more than 90% marks,
understanding such exploitations is must to avoid the failures. Two steps need
to be taken-
1. Do not rely on input
or support from closed relatives – If you are ambitious, you need not to take
input from close relatives and friends because it is not there. Excellence is
just not available around. It is important to look for wisdom elsewhere. It is
essential that future strategic decisions are taken based on your own
information, analysis and data. Look for these on Internet, Google or books.
2.
Help people without
expecting returns
– As a social animal, I think it may be essential to help people around us but
no return should be expected. One must focus on own skill sets to sharpen to
achieve excellence and keep priority clear. You are the only one who can take
care of your own interests.
Exploitations
are the biggest impediments in the life of growing individuals in a developing
society. Relatives, society or even nation keep exploiting at various stages of
your growth and limit the dream of excellence. Avoid such ruthless and ignorant
exploitations from your close relatives, friends and your society.
India
needs excellence and these can be achieved by curbing these prevalent
exploitations.
